Big changes are in store. This guy, Mr. Bob Scott (aka Mr. Prairie Pines), has decided to officially retire. We have some big shoes to fill to keep this family farm going. Kip and Jody Scott have produced the Field of Screams and Dinner Theater events for 20 years. And Jody has kept our Old Barn Christmas Shop running for over a decade. As we imagine what the future will hold for Prairie Pines, we want to pay tribute to the dreamer that has made this place so special over the years.

In 1973, the year their youngest son Kip was born, Bob and Patsy Scott purchased and built a home on the property where Prairie Pines now operates. They started with a dream of a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm and a wide-open space to raise their family. Christmas trees were planted and they opened for tree sales in 1980.

The excitement grew and they quickly needed space for sales. A beautiful log barn was built and our Christmas shop was started. Once the barn was estabilished, Patsy developed a thriving garden wedding business. Over the years, Bob’s passion for music culminated in a 20 year chamber music series at Prairie Pines, Chamber Music at the Barn. Land that had only one tree on it when the family moved on to it now boasts a large garden full of trees, ponds, waterfalls, and flowers.

Kip and Jody hope to maintain the beautiful and serene atmosphere at Prairie Pines while striving to keep our farm viable for the next generations. Their Halloween, Dinner Theater, and Christmas business will continue and hopefully grow. Kip will begin to grow and sell Christmas trees. They have decided to move away from the wedding business and are instead diving into growing Lavender and making lavender products. As we chart this new era on the farm, we say thank you Bob for your imagination, creativity, and generosity for over 50 years. We hope to carry on your love for this farm and its traditions!
