About Prairie Pines
Prairie Pines began as a Christmas tree farm opening for the first cutting season in 1980. As a full service choose-and-cut tree farm, Prairie Pines flourished in the Wichita community. The farm grew each year, gradually creating an old-fashioned Christmas experience complete with a rustic log barn, horse-drawn hayrack rides, a unique Christmas shop, and visits with Santa.
Fun All Year Long
Over the years, Prairie Pines has evolved into much more than a tree farm. The log barn, added in 1983, and the outdoor garden and lily pond behind it, became the perfect location for intimate indoor and outdoor gatherings, concerts, and quiet retreats.
Since the early 2000’s, the farm has seen many changes. Our large tractor barn was converted to a dinner theater, the large garden complete with a stone bridge, ponds, and waterfalls, was added for outdoor summer camps and large events. Our popular fall event, Field of Screams, has become an annual destination for thrill seekers. The dinner theater, Prairie Pines Playhouse, has been offering an annual holiday dinner and show since 2004. And the well-known summer concert series, Chamber Music at the Barn, celebrated 25 seasons, with its final performance in the summer of 2022.
As our farm continues to evolve, Prairie Pines continues to offer a beautiful location for events:
- Prairie Pines Playhouse is now specializing in mystery dinners and has added an annual spring and summer show.
- The Field of Screams is celebrating 20 years of scares.
- We are excited about the newest adventure in farming – Prairie Pines Lavender!
Through all the changes and growth over the past 50 years, our family is rooted in our tradition of offering an old-fashioned Christmas experience every holiday season.
